Gear Review: Marmot Eigerwand Jacket

This synthetic-filled puffy stays warm even in wet, sloppy snow.

The synthetic-fill Marmot Eigerwand Jacket won’t wilt in a little rain. Our tester was boggled by how warm this streamlined jacket kept him in wind, snow, and temps down to 10°F, thanks to the DWR-treated shell fabric and quick-drying, warm-when-wet Spirafil insulation.

It’s close-fitting, not confining; another tester wore it downhill skiing and enjoyed unfettered movement and sealed-in warmth thanks to the high, fleece-lined collar. Two hand pockets are placed high enough to clear a pack’s hipbelt, and the polyester shell fabric is 100-percent recycled. $149; 1 lb. 1 oz. (m’s M); marmot.com
