Gear Review: Lafuma LD Prowarm Battle Pants

Warmest

Heavy winter pants often restrict range of motion. Not these. The windproof fabric and soft, fleecy interior kept us warm even in icy 30-mph ridgeline winds, yet the athletic fit and stretchy material enhance mobility. After a trek in Colorado’s Indian Peaks Wilderness, one tester said the Battle pants proved elastic enough for even the most exaggerated high-stepping.

And the features are winter-ready, like the Velcro-tabbed cuffs, which cinch down tight over boots. A do-it-all pant for cold temperatures, the LD proved rugged enough for snowshoeing and climbing, but avoid mild weather. Testers roasted when temps exceeded 35°F. $180; 1 lb. 7 oz. (w’s M); men’s S-XL, women’s S-XL; lafumausa.com
