Gear Review: Kelty LumaSpot Lantern

[light & tunes]

No need to leave the party at home when you have this tricked-out, multifunctional lantern, which mates with your iPod and puts out pretty good (if not loud) sound. With two white LEDs on either side of a central reflector, it offers up plenty of glow for cooking or playing a card game. The swiveling top can even convert into a spotlight that reaches more than 300 feet. But the LumaSpot really shines when it comes to fun. A smiley-face button activates a ring of color-changing LEDs, which glows a soft red, green, or blue, or cycles through all three colors for a disco vibe. Plug your iPod into the integrated speaker, and let the good times roll. Runs on four D batteries.
