Gear Review: Julbo MonteBianco Sunglasses

High-elevation glasses that have city street style.

Mountaineering

Glacier glasses may be practical, but they sure look silly when worn anywhere but on snow. Not the Julbo MonteBianco. These shades provide both high-elevation performance and city style. “I can wear these skiing, climbing, snowshoeing—and then to dinner without looking like a tool,” our tester says. He praised the minimal nose slippage and broad coverage that shielded his eyes during climbing trips in Colorado’s Indian Peaks Wilderness. The Camel lens is polarized, photochromic, and treated with an antifog coating. Annoying: The removable side shields can pop out (our tester glued them in place). $170; 1.3 oz.; julbousa.com
