Gear Review: Isis Cassandra Pant

These pants for ladies are practical and flattering.

Women’s Fit

These softshells wowed testers of all shapes and sizes. Our women found the fit flattering yet practical, thanks to streamlined pockets with invisible zips and a full-coverage rise that prevents indecent exposure when bending forward. Velcro tabs inside the waistband customize the fit and prevent bunching, and despite the high waist, they don’t look dowdy.

The fabric’s light weight lends itself to year-round use in cooler climes; it repelled drizzle and snow in Colorado’s Medicine Bow Mountains, and its breathability earned a thumbs-up during spring hikes. An elastic band in the cuffs cinches snugly against boots to seal out snow; the DWR finish didn’t fade after multiple washes; and sandstone failed to scuff the fabric. One gripe: no vents. $119; 13 oz. (size 10); women’s 2-16; isisforwomen.com
