Gear Review: GoLite Kenai Jacket

This waterproof, windproof jacket loves crappy weather.

[waterproof]

The Kenai was the best performer in the worst weather, making it a good go-to shell for multiday trips. The seam-taped, waterproof/breathable Pertex Shield fabric and adjustable hood worked together to fend off sudden downpours during trips in California’s Trinity Alps. “When things got roasty on a sunny and windy snowshoe trip on Mt. Shasta, the long pit zips [13 inches] kept me from overheating,” says one tester. Hand pockets are hipbelt compatible and a cavernous chest pocket holds gloves and a hat. $200; 10 oz.; men’s S-XL, women’s XS-XL; golite.com
