These socks have just the right amount of cushion and warmth.

“These socks have just the right amount of cushion and warmth, but the thin fabric doesn’t affect the performance fit of my hardshell ski boots,” said one tester after a season of downhill and tele skiing in Colorado. “But extra padding along the front of the leg alleviates shin-bang.”
With left/right shaping that perfectly contours around the foot, the blend of merino, nylon, silk, and a touch of spandex has better-than-average wicking ability so feet stayed drier. Thanks to 37 percent nylon, pilling was nonexistent, even after a hard season of use. The midweight version is the VVS MV. $23; 3.3 oz. (M); foxsox.com
