Gear Review: Energizer's Xpal SP2000 Power Pack

A hybrid battery and solar array.

KILLER DEAL

Lightest

Energizer’s Xpal SP2000 Power Pack is a hybrid battery and solar array that will juice multiple devices from a home or field charge. Three folding panels maximize sun exposure for speedy fill-ups—about five hours under sunny Colorado skies at 10,000 feet to top off an iPhone. It’s light and compact, but the thin plastic shell makes the Xpal less rugged than the others here. Bonus: It comes with six device adapters and a wall charger. $100; 8 oz.; energizer.com
