Gear Review: Black Diamond FrontPoint Gaiter

Made for ice climbers–perfect for anyone who needs tough, tall gaiters.

[most versatile]

“A terrycloth bathrobe for your feet!” That’s how one tester describes these merino socks. On the inside, a terry knit (made using high needle count machines) creates a fabric that’s extremely soft and dense. Our tester marveled at the socks’ comfort range—from winter use to a 90°F, mid-July sweatfest on a Colorado trail. Credit merino’s excellent wicking, plus a mesh-like vapor channel at the top of the foot that enhances breathability. The articulated heel is reinforced (as is the toe) with recycled polyester. $20; 2.5 oz. (w’s M); tekosocks.com
