Gear Review: Arc'teryx Celeris Jacket
A great jacket for trail runners at only five ounces.
The five-ounce, hoodless Celeris is ideal for runners, dayhikers, and fast-and-lighters who want to take the chill off, but don’t have pack (or pocket) space for bulkier layers. A fleece-lined collar adds a touch of warmth while Velcro cuffs seal out drafts. “The fabric proved extremely wind resistant, comfortably stretchy, and surprisingly durable for its weight,” one tester said after plowing through grabby foliage on the Sacramento River’s trail system.
The densely woven nylon has a thin, air-permeable coating that blocks wind yet allows sweat vapor out. And it has no heavy, slow-drying spandex; the fabric’s four-way stretch comes from the way the yarns are twisted during production. $129; 4.3 oz.; men’s S-XXL, women’s XS-XL; arcteryx.com
