Gear Guide 2010 ESS 5.10 Stealth Paint 445x260

5.10 Stealth Paint (BACKPACKER Photo Department)

It’s not just for climbing shoes anymore. We use 5.10 Stealth Paint to repair worn hiking boots and add sticky rubber to the slick soles of down booties and camp shoes. Application is easy: First, spread a layer of barge cement (included), then mix more cement with recycled rubber granules to form a paste you sculpt with a flat-edged painting knife (also included). Let dry overnight and hit the trail. $17; fiveten.com
