“This glove never sweats out,” rejoiced our tester after using the Marmot Glide Softshell. The stretchy, proprietary M2 shell paired with a moisture-wicking DriClime lining proved so breathable, her hands stayed dry (and therefore warm) during hard-charging ski tours and early- spring hikes and climbs. A Velcro wrist tab cinches the cuff, and sticky, polyurethane-coated fingers ensure enough dexterity to adjust ski poles and helmet straps. $50; 4 oz. (L); S-XL; marmot.com

Pack these toasters for camp and summit: Warmer than mitts costing twice as much, the Mammut Kompakt Mitten kept digits cozy through subfreezing temps, thanks to the proprietary Ajungilak OTI Element insulation (a synthetic fiber imitating down’s loft).
