Gear Guide 2009: Marmot Pinnacle Sleeping Bag Review
Grabbing our best fit award, this three-season bag is perfect for any cold sleeper.
Best Fit
If you’re a cold sleeper or shoulder-season camper, stop flirting with the shivers. This toaster has proven itself one of the warmest 15°F sacks on the planet, trip after trip, for both our male and female testers (it comes in models for each gender). This year, it shined again on trips in Rocky Mountain National Park and Wyoming’s Wind Rivers. Credit the precision fit–space is hyper-efficient, not cramped–and 800-fill down that lofts up like the feathers are still flapping.
The hood design is one of the best we’ve used, with a secure closure that’s Velcro-free so there’s no snagging on hair or beards. And we like the smart loop atop the draft-tube pocket, which helps you pull the shoulder around for easy zip-up. $329; 2 lbs. 6 oz.; 15°F
