Eureka! Kohana

The best value tent of 2021.

Groups and families looking to score a livable, double-walled tent for a below-average price will appreciate the new Kohana. It has a class-average 60 square feet of floor space, two 16-square-foot vestibules, and a relatively low peak height—56 inches—for a tent this size. At $250, though, it’s significantly cheaper than many competitors. “The interior gets the most out of its square footage with its nearly square shape,” one tester said after spending a night in the Kohana with his wife and two kids. “Unlike more rectangular and trapezoidal tents, you have several options on how to position yourselves.” Four interior and two exterior pockets (one by each door) make it easy to stash everybody’s gear. Above-average ventilation comes courtesy of two large, 45-inch by 55-inch mesh doors, mesh side panels, and high-low vents on the fly and body. Be aware: Pitching the full-length fly requires installing two poles that run underneath it, a task which demands patience.
