Enlightened Equipment Revelation

Best Quilt

Brand: Enlightened Equipment

Model: Revelation

Our take Quilt-style construction saves serious weight, but even minimalists usually want more than a simple blanket. The Revelation delivers. First, the bottom 20 inches of the quilt zip together to create a footbox, which we found critical to staying warm in temps below 40°F. Second, the attachment straps let you seal the edges tightly under your pad or loosen them, depending on conditions. The quilt’s continuous, U-shaped vertical baffles reduce weight even more by eliminating interior baffle walls (shake the bag out before bed to ensure even down distribution). Testers were comfortable in the low 30s, but wished there was an integrated way to seal in heat around your neck (an accessory hood, called the Hoodlum, seals in head/neck warmth, and is sold separately for $55; we didn’t test it).

The details The Revelation is completely customizable, with five lengths, four widths, six temp ratings, 16 shell fabric colors, and three levels of down fill to choose from. We used the standard sizing, which fit our 6-foot tester, with 850-fill Downtek (price and specs below). All models use 10-denier nylon.

Trail cred “I love how small this quilt packs down,” says our tester. “It fit in the bottom of my drybag on our 100-mile SUP river expedition in southern Utah, which was key considering everything needed to fit on my board.”
