Dynafit TLT Hybrid Primaloft Hood Jacket

Best insulated layer for touring from the Fall/Winter 2018 Gear Guide.

Brand: Dynafit

Model: TLT Hybrid Primaloft Hood Jacket

None

When you’re working hard, you produce enough heat to go light on insulation. The TLT Hybrid gives hard chargers just the right amount, thanks to body mapping: It uses synthetic PrimaLoft Luxe in the shoulders, torso, and upper back, while woven nylon-elastane in the arms, sides, lower back, and hood dumps heat and boosts mobility. “I could pole plant unhindered, and the silicone-lined waistband kept the TLT Hybrid from riding up under my pack,” says one tester who used it for early morning skimo training in Colorado’s Front Range.

THE DETAILS

An uninsulated, scuba-style hood traps heat without getting too sweaty. It can fit beneath or over a helmet. The TLT Hybrid packs down to the size of a cantaloupe.

TRAIL CRED

“Because it’s trim and fits under a shell, I kept it on during bouts of driving snow in 20°F weather and didn’t overheat,” said one mountaineer after five weeks in France’s Mont Blanc region.

Weight: 15 oz.

Sizes: Men’s XS-XL, Women’s XS-XL
