Dragon Alliance SeafarerX

Best for water

Brand: Dragon Alliance

Model: SeafarerX

Our take Our paddlers, SUPers, fishermen, and surfers fought over our sample of these wayfarers. For starters, they float, thanks to Dragon’s proprietary injection-molded frame and lenses. Second, the sealed hydro- and oleophobic lens coating was best in test: It stood up to saltwater and even fended off fish guts without streaking. Third, and best of all, the clarity: The polarized filter cut the glare so well that our tester said he could see trout cruising through the water, “like it was glass,” when fly fishing in the Winds. Each pair of SeafarerX’s comes with two pairs of temples, one normal and one with a built-in retainer system. Reality check: For wayfarers, they’re not cheap.

Trail cred “There’s no internal glare whatsoever, which I appreciated when SUPing through Morro Bay on the Central California coast,” one tester says. Credit the hard coating, which wraps around the lens.
