Extreme conditions call for extreme boots.
Brand: Columbia Gear Reviews
Model: Powderhouse Titanium Omni-Heat 3D OutDry Boot

Our take Spring “breakup” conditions in Alaska normally means wet and cold feet, but not with these boots. Columbia’s Omni-Heat thermal reflective lining technology, which returns your own heat back to you, as well as 600 grams of insulation kept our Alaska tester warm and dry even down to negative temps. Despite such warm layering, our tester reported full breathability with no overheating, even when pushing hard while wearing wool socks.
The details Our tester boasted of maximum stability with above-ankle lacing, so much that lacing was sometimes a challenge. She was shocked these beefy boots didn’t even need a break-in period, proven after her first 20 miles revealed no blisters. Columbia’s OutDry technology is heat-bonded to inside of the boot with no gaps, so even when she crossed icy streams trying to find the trail in Alaska’s backcountry, the layers never leaked water through.
Trail cred “While gaining more than 3,200 feet climbing up wet, icy and snow-covered trails in the Chugach Front Range, my climbing partners all had to stop to put on ice cleats for traction. The Michelin outsole on the Powderhouse never lost any grip and I blazed the trail through deep snow as we topped out above the clouds.”
