Camera Review: Canon PowerShot SD400 Digital ELPH

You'll never miss a shot with this camera's lightning-fast lens.

“A ton of power in a tiny package,” raved a tester who used this new ELPH in the Cascades. Thanks to a supercharged processor, the SD400 auto-focuses and captures photos of up to 5 megapixels noticeably faster than other palm-sized cameras we tried (read: less lag time when that bear is running away). The 3x optical-zoom lens collected images crisp enough for 11×17 wall prints, and the durable metal body held up to normal trail abuse and spitting rain. Plus, the controls are intuitive enough to make Andy Rooney smile. Uses SD memory cards and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
