2-Person Tent Reviews

Cabela’s Instinct Two-Person

It handles all but the worst of winter without weight or price penalties.

Brand: Cabela's

Model: Instinct Two-Person

Strength
Three-season campers can confidently extend their trips into shoulder season with this two-person tent: Small cross sections at the front and back deflected wind gusts (up to 30 mph) on a glacier in Greenland.

Livability
The 87-inch-long, 31-square-foot floor provided plenty of room for tall testers. Smaller testers reckoned they could fit a third person in a bind. Everyone loved the high, 40-inch peak height, which makes entering and exiting the single door easy, and the steep walls, which improve space at shoulder height (where you do most tasks) and make the tent feel roomier than its measurements suggest.

Protection
Sustained downpours in Canyonlands National Park didn’t penetrate the tent, nor did several inches of light snow in Colorado and British Columbia. However, wind-driven snow in Alaska mounded between the fly and canopy.

Pitch
Sleeves and burly pole clips combine the best of speed and strength.

Bonus
Cabela’s makes getting set up easy by including a mesh gear hammock and a burly, 70-denier nylon footprint.
