Bridgedale Trail Run Lightweight T2 Merino Sport
The sock with best protection of 2021.
Mountainous terrain can rough up your feet. So when we encountered blister-causing dirt and grit on a 21-mile slog to Jade Lake in Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness, we were thankful that the 1³/₈-inch high, skin-hugging cuff at the top of this sock kept the debris out. We also appreciated that the top of the Trail Run Lightweight is padded and roughly twice the thickness of the rest of the sock. After a season of get filthy-rinse-repeat, the Trail Run Lightweight avoided any holes thanks to 62 percent nylon and a toe box (where trail running socks suffer the most damage) reinforced with durable polyamide (20 percent). Despite the sock’s heavy-duty construction, 18 percent polypropylene provided enough hydrophobic action to wick away sweat on runs along the Devil’s Gulch Trail in central Washington.
