For hikers who feel especially lazy in the morning, this no-cook oats option delivers plenty of sustenance and—just as importantly—taste. Chia seeds, hemp seeds, and walnuts give a crunch to the rolled oats, and the meal comes in four varieties (apple spice was our favorite). We found the “overnight” in the name to be a little misleading, as we achieved the same results preparing the dish in 5 minutes in the morning with cold water or powdered milk as we did from soaking the night before. Ingredients This meal has no added sugar, but the natural sweetness of apple pieces piqued our tastebuds. With 450 calories and 29 grams of fat per serving, one tester noted that the oats helped power her through a 2,000-foot descent followed by a 3,000-foot ascent in Oregon’s Wallowas.
