Shape

“The narrow profile and body-hugging EVA backpanel made it feel like I was climbing with a much smaller pack,” says one tester who hauled bivy gear while ascending the Frendo Spur on France’s Aiguille du Midi.

Protection

“The pack’s roll-top, waterproof liner saved me,” said a tester after traversing the Matterhorn. “It kept my camera equipment, phone, and extra layers dry during a storm.” How it works: The pack is “double-hulled”—with a drybag inside the outer shell.

Organization

The main compartment swallows minimalist overnight gear, but it’s not featureless. The front stretch pocket and long side pockets hold crampons, bars, and maps. Padded sleeves protect electronics and hydration reservoirs.

Durability

Bummer: After a month in the Alps, followed by two more months in Yosemite, one tester wore a small hole in the 210-denier ripstop, TPU-coated nylon packbag.
