Boot Review: Nike ACG Air Tallac +

Don't underestimate the power of this model's plus sign -- the new and improved shoe almost offers too much to use the same name.

Featherlike on the feet, last year’s Air Zoom Tallac earned an Editors’ Choice Award (4/04) for its low weight, instant comfort, and innovative ankle support. This refined version is even better, with more supple plastic stabilizing truts, more breathable and durable fabric uppers, and a tougher toe cap.

Our tester took the new version out for a 20-mile day without any break-in and was happy to find that Nike has retained the other attributes we like: air-cushioned sole, great fit, and super-secure lacing. This staff favorite works for everything from rugged cross-country runs to pounding trails with a 40-pound load. Best for narrow- to medium-width feet. $140
