Boot Review: Montrail Java GTX

These shoes can handle any terrain.

Want one shoe for your multisport weekend? We trekked, biked, and ran the Javas all over Utah for our Do-It-All shoe review and testers were unanimous: They’re stable on rough trails, sticky on slick terrain, and springy on the run. The cushy forefoot and close-trimmed sole shrugged off pedal pressure when one tester hauled a heavy trailer on a bike trip. The low-bulk neoprene/Gore-Tex collar seals out trail debris but makes the Javas a little less breathable than some lightweights. Best for medium-volume feet.

Price: $120
