Boot Review: Lafuma Cross Tour GTX

Excellent fit, support, and waterproofing set a high bar for low-priced boots.

These fabric-leather boots fit precisely through the heel and midfoot, with a roomy forefoot that allows for typical foot swell on long trail days. Ankle support is solid, and the Gore-Tex liner kept my feet dry despite hours of splashing down shallow streambeds in Escalante country. The shallow-lugged Vibram sole offers decent, though not exceptional, traction. But these midcuts stand out for their solid underfoot and ankle support, even with a 40-pound load in sketchy canyon terrain. Best for medium-width feet.
