Boot Review: La Sportiva Exum Ridge

What kind of scrambler would pass up a shoe with soles described as Spider-Man-like? C'mon!

The Spider-Man soles on the Exum Ridge will make a surefooted scrambler out of anyone. The FriXion Dot Rubber under the forefoot and to-the-toe lacing let our tester walk straight up and down granite slabs, while the shallow lugs under the heel provide decent tread for dirt trails. The breathable mesh uppers are ideal for hot weather. But modest support makes them best for light loads, and the toe cap isn’t as protective or durable as some. Best for medium-width, medium-volume feet. $90
