Big Agnes Yock 0
The best down bargain sleeping bag from the Fall/Winter 2018 Gear Guide.

When a 0°F bag nails its temp rating for a price like this, our first question is: How? The Yock uses 600-fill down instead of the premium, pricey stuff. But there’s plenty of it, and designers didn’t skimp on comfort, so the only tradeoff is weight and bulk (the bag stuffs down to the size of a basketball). Our testers lauded the Yock’s 60-inch shoulder and 36-inch footbox circumferences—ideal for long winter nights.
THE DETAILS
Testers praised the large, U-shaped draft collar (“I loved sealing in heat without having to cinch the face opening down to the size of a blowhole,” one says). Extra credit: A #8 zipper, larger than the #5 found on most bags, almost never snags.
TRAIL CRED
“It sleeps as comfortably as pricier bags,” one tester reports. “On 10°F nights in Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo Range, I didn’t get one cold spot.”
Weight: 3 lbs. 7 oz.
