Big Agnes Crosho UL -20

Warmest bag

Brand: Big Agnes

Model: Crosho UL -20

Our take

A bag this warm doesn’t usually come this light. Credit narrow dimensions, lightweight materials (including 850-fill hydrophobic goose down and a 20-denier nylon shell), and body-mapped baffles that maximize insulation where you want it (the hood, torso, and footbox). It kept us warm on an Alaska ice climbing trip with -15°F overnight temps. Bonus: The whole thing squishes down to football size in a compression sack (not included).

The details

With a 60-inch shoulder girth, the Crosho’s dimensions are typical for a mummy. A short zip helps cut weight, but prevented testers from fully venting on warmer nights. Also, while our testers didn’t have any wear issues, they predicted that the ultralight ripstop nylon would need TLC for a long life.

Trail cred

“Humidity spiked in our ice cave, but the water-resistant down never wilted, even when the shell got wet from ceiling drips,” said our tester after a night under the snow outside of Fairbanks, Alaska.
