Big Agnes Boot Jack 24 Sleeping Bag
You get the performance of a three-season down bag at the price of a synthetic.
Brand: Big Agnes
Model: Boot Jack 24
WARMTH Instead of pricier goose feathers, Big Agnes opts for 600-fill DownTek duck down to keep the cost of this shoulder-season bag reasonable—without sacrificing performance. Traditional horizontal box construction works on the bag’s top and bottom, but the vertical side baffles use Insotect Flow technology normally found in much pricier designs: Mesh panels inside the tubes create small internal chambers to keep the fill secure while allowing warmth to travel throughout the vertical baffle. “I’m a cold sleeper,” states our tester. “I spent nearly a week sleeping in subfreezing temps in Utah’s Dark Canyon, and I never felt a pocket of cold air.”
FIT The relaxed mummy shape (60-inch circumference in the shoulders, 54 in the hips) means plenty of elbowroom. It even won over a tester who long ago switched to quilts to avoid mummy claustrophobia.
TRADEOFF The lower fill-power means it’s not as compressible or light as a bag made with premium feathers, though it comes close. Our tester could squish it to just under soccer-ball size with the included stuffsack.
