Big Agnes Big House 6
A solo tent that can handle nasty weather and is comfortable to boot.
Brand: Big Agnes
Model: Big House 6
For the first leg of my AT thru-hike, I wanted the perfect solo tent: one with reliable weatherproofing, easy setup, plenty of room, and reasonable weight. The three-hoop Stash delivered: It weathered nasty thunderstorms, heavy rain, and moderate winds on the southern part of the trail, and went up in five minutes flat each night (it’s not freestanding, but stakes out quickly). I had enough room (25 inches) to sit up at the head end and get organized, but the foot end tapers to 18 inches.
Gripes: The included stakes are flimsy, and the vestibule isn’t big enough for much more than boots. sierradesigns.com
