Backpack Review: Indigo Rox 60
A special pocket makes hydration easier for backpackers carrying this midsize.
This midsize internal frame takes on-the-go access to a new level with an innovative system called the Café Pocket. A side-to-side tunnel runs through the pack’s lumbar area, with zips at each end, letting you easily grab a water bottle and other small items on the fly. Bonus: You won’t bang your elbows on the hidden stash, as can happen with old-school water pockets. The climber-oriented pack has a generous double-buckle flap for carrying rope, and a pleated external pocket keeps crampons out of the way or protects a small sleeping pad. The stiff frame carries moderate loads well, and our female tester loves the padded, contoured shoulder straps of the women’s model (Betty Rox 60). Downside: It’s heavy for its size. $199; 2 men’s sizes (16.5″-24.5″ torso), 2 women’s sizes (14″-20″ torso); 3,600 cu. in.; 4 lbs. 6 oz. (M) (970) 429-1005; www.indigoequipment.com.
