Arc’teryx Satoro AR Zip Neck shirt LS

Wear it all winter and still smell as good as you look.

Brand: Arc'Teryx Gear Reviews

Model: Satoro AR Zip Neck shirt LS

Wicking The Arc’teryx Satoro delivered exactly what testers wanted, when they wanted it: breathable, quick-wicking performance during aerobic bursts and fast-drying insulation for transitions and descents. “While backcountry skiing in wet snow, I could wear this as my only layer on the way up and wouldn’t get too sweaty,” one New Hampshire tester says. “And by the time I had my skins off and was ready to head down with my shell on, I was dry.” The Satoro’s yarn features superfine merino wool wrapped around a nylon core (same construction as most winter socks), which combines wool’s wicking properties with a synthetic’s added strength.

Stink resistance Wool naturally fights odor (this top is 81 percent merino), so we expected funk-free performance. But even for wool, the Satoro was impressive. One tester wore it through dozens of sweat-and-dry cycles on a four-day backcountry ski tour, and another rocked it for 13 long runs in a row. In both cases, it emerged daisy-fresh. “I couldn’t believe it—and neither could the friends I made smell it afterward,” says one.

Durability Arc’teryx says the fabric’s nylon core adds 20 percent more tear strength and 50 percent more abrasion resistance than you get with pure wool. We say: After five months of trail running, skiing, and backpacking, we’ve yet to see any pilling or signs of wear. m’s S-XXL, w’s XS-XL
