360Fly HD
360-degree camera
Brand: 360Fly
Model: HD
Our take This camera boasts an appealing mix of trail performance, affordability, and picture quality. “I’ve dropped it, used it in snow, water, and sand, and haven’t had any issues,” says our pro videographer tester. The video is slightly better than 1080p, sharp enough for us to discern distant peaks on a smartphone screen from video of a trip near Crested Butte. Note: 360Fly’s 4K camera offers better video specs, but costs $200 more.
Features The 360fly HD has only one lens, and our tester liked its ability to film a single image rather than stitching two together, which can compromise quality. Tradeoff: The single lens creates a blind spot below the camera, and its 240-degree vertical field is less than some competitors.
Trail cred “The phone app was incredibly easy to use in the field,” our tester says. “It never took more than a moment to adjust my settings.”
