A complex matrix of hundreds of tiny air-supported cells limit convective heat loss by restricting the movement of warmed air, and three layers of super-thin aluminum sheets (embedded in that cell matrix) reflect body heat back to the sleeper. When bedded down on snow in Svalbard (700 miles from the North Pole), our tester stayed cozy through “some of the most extreme conditions I’ve endured.”
