Outdoor Retailer Roundup: Backcountry Ski/Snowboard Gear

A sweet ladies' splitboard from Jones and a collapsible pole from K2 to pair with it.

Jones Solution Splitboard
Jones Solution Splitboard

On your mark, get set, GO! I am at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and finally running around the floor trying not to drool on all the sparkly new gear. I am focused and excited for my backcountry ski/snowboard, snowshoe, and backpack beat. Take a look at what I found on Day 1 and get excited because there’s plenty more where these came from…

Snowshoes - Atlas 9 and Race and Run Series
This season Atlas Snowshoe Company’s 9 series/ Elecktra 9 adjusted the binding connection to decrease the amount of snow flip that buyers had been annoyed with (Available now, $169). I am also excited about the Atlas Race and Run series which is super light and is meant to function on all snow terrain. Trail running is now year-round!

Splitboard for the Ladies - Jones Snowboards Solution
A big thanks to Jones Snowboards because for the 2013 season us ladies will be able to split board to our own private stashes. The women's Solution rocks the same details as the men’s Solution, with Magne-traction on both inner and outer edges, early rise tip and tail with a blunt nose. Coming in 152 cm and 156 cm this board is meant for deep pow and steep terrain. Available Fall 2012, MSRP: $800

Collapsible Pole - K2 Speedlink4
The K2 Speedlink4 is a bonus to the backcountry go getter. Skiers and snowboards alike will love this collapsible, instant-assembly ski pole. At 49 cm (collapsed) this pole easily fits into your pack and is made from a light aluminum. Available Fall 2012, MSRP: $120.

Which gear should we be sure to test this winter? Drop us a note in the comments.
