I climbed Long's Peak on August 28, 1971. That's right. It was a very memorable day. Started about 4:00 am. from the campground. Ascended by way of the old cable route. 38 degrees and a sip from a bottle of champagne at the summit. We descended along the Narrows and the Keyhole route.
We got stuck in a lightning storm at the Boulder Field in the early afternoon. We stumbled back to our campsite just before sunset. Too tired to deal with supper, so we drove to Allenspark, for a thorough meal at the Hummingbird Cafe. What a day! Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for the footage! I climbed this years ago (late 80s) starting at 2:30 AM under a full moon. Summit by 6:30 AM and then scrambled back down because I had to work that afternoon. Ah, to be young and foolish again.
