I injured my knee on a solo trip just before the last downhill stretch of this trail. Curiously, the pain was manageable only when I did the downslope climb backwards...which beat the alternative of waiting for rescue. It did make for an interesting conclusion to my hike. Absolutely gorgeous hike down though, directly across the valey from Half Dome.

Rhett, It is spectacular!
And for a shorter hike do the same sort of trip only along the South Rim instead (Pohono Trail). See "Yosemitee National Park" book by Jeffrey Shaffer for both hikes. The South rim hike is even more deserted and solitary but less spectacular scenery. See another group of hikers every hour on N rim, every half day on south rim (non weekends).
