What a bunch of complainers; glad you won't be hiking with me. I got the video. It was not an explanation of how to stuff items into a pack. He was giving tips about choosing lighter tents, shoes, food bags, and cookware vs heavier depending upon how remote, how rainy, type of terrain, how many eaters, and what kind of varmints. He also mentioned tips about how to distribute items in the pack based upon weight shape and need for access. GREAT VID JON.

This may be helpful for you, it may not. It may be what you expected before you watched it, or may not. These videos offer advice and tips that help make outdoor experiences more enjoyable and are very helpful for a lot of people, including myself. Keep your negative comments to yourself and if hiking is such an uncomfortable experience for you, stay home.

apextravler...he was pretty clear that he wasn't taking everything he was showing...he was demonstrating different equipment for different applications. He showed both the regular (small) jetboil stove as well as the large jetboil and then explained that if you were cooking for a group you might want the larger system. I just wish he would have showed packing the equipment he demonstrated....

im a little confused about this... why on earth would make people bring this much bulky heavy stuff? why take a large stove? that thing is huge! i use the MSR pocket rocket, its awesome. i keep it stowed in my mess kit, which is also MSR. along with a lighter, sporks and a mini spatula from GSI. and i can see why the bear canister would be a good thing, but i have never used on and have never been robbed by bears... call me crazy i guess. that video really didnt say much though, and ive seen many people gripe about it. and rightfully so. BP really needs to step it up a notch. and as far as my credibility, its called the US Army. ive LIVED out of my ruck for weeks.

yeah, knowing how to pack a bear cannister for maximum comfort would be nice... last time i had one in my pack it was poking me in the back right along the spine... yeah that was a fun hike... not.

Would be much better and more helpful if he packed the items he showed/demoed, rather than some nondescript items not representative of the bear canister, cookware, etc. Make a true demo video: have him lay out his gear for a trip--don't show other alternatives, but show only what he's gonna carry--and then have him pack it. Use another video to show alternatives to gear he did carry.
