This dudes whinny voice is annoying, good video though.
It's like Ben Stein meets the wilderness. That's so embarrassing to watch even the animals ran away.
The Point is, this was an 'experiment' of sorts. Of course he doesn't have his gps etc. That was the point. His humour and predicament are typical of the reality of being alone with no sense of direction. My niece and I came close to this when we lost our sense of direction in a canyon in NM one morning. It's funny now, embarrassing, but then it felt all so serious.

Well I suppose we all act different when we are lost. I sure wouldn't want to be lost with him. This is a comedy..... right?
The 'bear fur' he found is a common lichen in those parts. The video starts at the confluence of the West Fork and Main Chamberlain Creek. As of late August in 09, there was a sizeable outfitter camp right behind where he was standing to take the video. It is possible that they had left by that time, though it seems unlikely.
The start of the video is at the confluence of Chamberlain Creek and the West Fork of Chamberlain. I was swimming at that point in the last week or so of August 2009 while counting salmon redds. At the time, an outfitter was setting up a hunting camp within easy sight of where the video was taken from. Perhaps they had left by the time the video was taken, but it seems unlikely that hunters would leave during hunting season.
why not use the map more often and use the creek to match it up with other terrain features to determine your location...
