Mount Rainier National Park: Comet Falls and Mildred Point

Hike to one of the tallest waterfalls in the park, climb through a meadowland paradise, and crest 5,935-foot Mildred Point on this 6.2-mile hike.

PERMIT A wilderness permit is required for all overnight camping in the backcountry. Reservations requests accepted by fax or mail, starting on March 15th of each year ($20/reservation). Download form at nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/wilderness-reservation-information.htm.

To Trailhead

From Tacoma, drive east on SR 7 to Elbe, then veer left on SR 706 and enter the park at the Nisqually Entrance near Ashford. Continue into the park east 10 miles to the parking area on the left (north) side of the road, found just before the road passes over the Christine Falls bridge.
