A glacial sculpture of incredible symmetry in northern Canada

In early July, the ice in Pangnirtung Fiord melts out, allowing access to the Weasel River Valley, and the stunning interior sights of Auyuittuq, Inuit for "the land that never melts." A 25-mile backpack up this deep, U-shaped valley, leads past towering rock walls to a cable crossing over the rushing river, and Pangnirtung Pass. There, Mount Thor, a beautiful horn-shaped peak, with a 4,000 foot sheer west face, comes into view as well as Mount Asgard and the glaciers of the Penny Ice Cap.
