A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson
Filled with sidesplitting nuggets from Bryson’s Appalachian Trail hike, the 1998 memoir never has a dull moment. “Hunters will tell you that a moose is a wily and ferocious forest creature," Bryson writes. "Nonsense. A moose is a cow drawn by a three-year-old.”
