Supreme Court Justice quits to spend more time hiking, climbing

Imagine sitting on the bench of the highest court in the land, determining the course of our nation's history and defining our laws for all time, and all you wanna do is get outside. Supreme Court Justice David Souter took the leap most of us can't, and said, "screw this job—I'm going hiking." (Maybe not in so many words, but still.)

From the NY Times: 

Friends said Thursday evening that he had often spoken of his intentions to be the court’s first retirement if Mr. Obama won the election last fall. He told friends he looked forward to returning to New Hampshire while he was young enough to enjoy climbing mountains and other outdoor activities.

Yes! Now that's what I'm talking about—a supreme court judge, at the pinnacle of achievement in his chosen field, ditching it all to go peakbagging. Souter apparently made his distaste for Washington D.C. known, and he escaped to the 'shire pretty much every weekend; now it looks like he'll finally be able to knock out the Presidential traverse.

Congrats, Justice Souter. And if you ever come out west, give us a shout: we'd be honored to hike with you, Your Honor.
