Annapurna Circuit: From Thorung La Pass to the Trail's End

Follow editor Shannon Davis and his wife Emily as they trek the second half of the legendary Annapurna Circuit for their honeymoon.
  • 17,769-foot Thorung La, the highest point on the Annapurna Circuit.
  • We descended more than 5,000 feet to Ranipauwa and the temple complex of Muktinath.
  • 108 fountains line the temple grounds at Muktinath, which is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists.
  • Sadhus, devout hindus, gather around a little fire near the temples. They'd walked here, barefoot.
  • Some pilgrims stopping for lunch on their way to Muktinath.
  • YacDonald's restaurant in Kagbheni. You feeling it?
  • Long trains of donkeys transport good from village to village.
  • Laundry day in Tatopani, a few days before we finished the circuit.
  • This photo continues to bring me much joy.
  • Near Kalopani we got stopped at a communist outpost where they asked us for a "donation."
  • Catching the sunrise view at 10,475-foot Poon Hill is an Annapurna Circuit tradition.
