Recipe: Niagara Trail Bars

Homemade is always better definitely rings true for these make-ahead Niagara Trail Bars.

2 2⁄3 cups Quaker Old Fashioned Oats
1⁄2 cup plus 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour
6 tablespoons all-purpose bleached wheat flour
1⁄2 cup sesame seeds
1⁄2 cup brown sugar
1⁄4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
1⁄3 cup nonfat powdered milk
1⁄2 cup vegetable oil
3⁄4 cup honey
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation at home:
Preheat oven to 325°F. In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients together. Heat oil, honey, and vanilla in a pan, then add to the dry ingredients in the bowl. Stir well. Pat batter into a 9×13-inch parchment-lined pan. Bars should be about 1⁄2-inch thick. Cook for 30 minutes. Cool, then slice into 32 bars. Place in plastic food wrap for the trail.
