Make sure the bottom of the rubber tip has a metal plate in it or you will poke thru it quickly. I went back to the ones made by Leki because they have a place for the tip of the pole to sit in. They also grip very well on rock, etc.

So why not just buy the rubber tips made for hiking poles from your local/online outdoor store? No messing around with duct tape.

Leki sells two types of rubber tips for their poles that go on tight and stay with out tape.
