Apparel Review: Marmot Kids DriClime
Don't let your kid board the bus underdressed this winter
We've lived in this versatile windshirt for years (Editors' Choice Gold Award, 2002), and then we put the junior version on a 10-year-old tester. Result? It worked just as well for him, and it saved us the guilt trip that comes when weather arrives and your kid is underdressed. The DWR-treated shell sloughs light rain, the soft liner provides a touch of insulation, and the whole thing dries in minutes from your body heat. Bonus: The ripstop nylon exterior won't shred when your kid decides to drag it by a sleeve. To complete the high-performance outfit, put him (or her) in a pair of quick-dry Molehill Yampa pants or shorts ($30-$40, www.molehillmtn.com), which have a reinforced rear for butt-scooting over rocks.
