Gear Review: Patagonia Nano Puff Down Jacket

This quilted pullover was a go-to jacket all year round.

Ultralight Synthetic
"Supremely adaptable," said one tester who wore this quilted pullover almost constantly through six months of testing. On cold days skinning up Vermont's Mt. Mansfield, the Nano was perfect over a wool baselayer, with the DWR-coated polyester shell cutting the wind and repelling light precip. And on 60°F nights in southern Utah, the thin layer of PrimaLoft One insulation added just enough warmth to keep the chill off.

The clean, minimalist design and sleek cut slides like butter underneath additional insulating layers or shells. The Nano packs down to coffee cup-size and weighs only eight ounces, so you'll never angst over whether to pack it–and you'll find yourself grabbing for it 12 months a year. $150; 8 oz.; men's XS-XXL, women's XS-XL; patagonia.com.

Nano puff is 60gsm per metre squared and the Rab 100 in the body and 60 in the arms!

Nano' outer is very similar to the Genrators Pertex Quantum. (identical)

I have the vest which is 100g fill and I realy like it as a mid, outer or just over a Tech T round the house.

Nano puff! I own them both. Just fished the south fork of the snake in Idaho. Rain, snow, fog, sun...all in a day. Nano over a wool base, and a shell over the nano. Toasty all day. Breaths amazingly well and as mentioned, glides under any layering allowing full movement. Lose the shell and the nano and the wool base layer were perfect for 40 degrees.

I just did an interview with Fly Fisherman and SafetySuit drummer, Tate Cunningham. We talked about living simply and gear that helps him do that. He had good stuff to say about three pieces of Patagonia gear, one of them being the Nano Puff. You can read the interview at www.one-backpack.com.

I would like an indication: in this category, is better this Nano Puff or the Rab Generator Jacket?
