GoLite Goes Greener

The company launches a complete line of eco-friendly packs and sleeping bags.

The use of recycled nylon in backpacks and sleeping bags just got a big push from GoLite. For its spring 2010 line, the company is using "Tier 1" recycled nylon and polyester instead of virgin petro-chemicals. Tier 1 means that used material is broken down to molecular level (called depolymerization) before being turned into new fabric.

Translation: GoLite says there's no compromise in performance, and the switch can save up to 80 percent in energy use and CO2 emissions. The recycled fabrics will be used in all the spring packs (including the new Peak, pictured) and the shells and liners of sleeping bags.

nah, the Jam will still be in the line. Peak is a smaller version of the Jam. 1 lb 11 oz. Not sure on capacity.
